The Solo Road Trip

When I was in college, I wasn't too fond of driving by myself. I didn't hate it or anything, but the 2 1/2 hour trip to college from home would sometimes get lonely. 15 years later, I don't feel quite the same about getting in the car to head 2 1/2 hours to "home." (Why will "home" always be where your parents are?) 15 years and three boys later, a solo road trip is very welcome every once in awhile. I got to sing "my" music as loudly as I wanted, listen to "my" bible studies on tape, and not worry about anyone but "me."

This trip, I got to simply be "friend," "daughter," and "sister." I was able to lay aside many other hats I wear and just be those for a day. And it felt good.

I was able to visit with my longtime friend Britt and see her new baby girl. We, of course, took lots of pictures.

I got to eat Mexican with my parents and shop a little with my sister.

It was a fast and furious solo road trip, but it was just what this little heart needed.

And now, if my house would restock itself with some food after our beach vacation and my little hiatus, it would just be dandy.
